Pepe Mel admits uncertainty over West Bromwich Albion future

West Brom manager Pepe Mel admits that he doesn't know whether he will still be in charge of the club next season, even if he keeps the Baggies in the top flight.

West Bromwich Albion manager Pepe Mel has admitted that he doesn't know whether he will still be at the club next season, even if he keeps them in the top flight.

The Baggies moved five points clear of the relegation zone with a crucial 1-0 victory over fellow strugglers Norwich City yesterday, while they also have a game in hand over the three teams directly below them in the table.

However, the 51-year-old, who was appointed by the club in January, is refusing to look past the remaining six games of the season as he attempts to clinch Premier League survival for his side.

"I don't know where I am going to be next season. This is a different country, a different language, another way of doing things, but I said at the time, I would make sure that I met the objective and that is what is taking place," Mel is quoted as saying by PA.

"This is a league in which anyone can take points off anyone, you can take points off Chelsea and you can take points off Liverpool, which is why it is the most competitive league in the world."

West Brom's next match sees them host Tottenham Hotspur at the Hawthorns on Saturday.
