Owen Coyle leaves Ross County after five months in charge

Owen Coyle leaves his post as Ross County manager after five months in charge.

Owen Coyle has resigned as manager of Scottish Premiership outfit Ross County.

The former Blackburn Rovers boss has stepped down from his post after just five months in charge, and leaves the club at the bottom of the table.

"Myself and the chairman had a chat on Monday and after some reflective thought I felt for the good of Ross County - and the challenging situation with my family being in England - it was in everyone's best interests for me to offer my resignation, which the chairman duly accepted," said Coyle in a statement posted on the Staggies' official website.

Coyle won three out of his opening six matches at Ross County, but a run of just one victory in the next 16 saw them plummet to the foot of the table.

Assistant manager Sandy Stewart has also left the club, and development manager Stuart Kettlewell has taken over first-team affairs until the end of the season.
