Lee McCulloch leaves Kilmarnock by mutual consent

Manager Lee McCulloch leaves Kilmarnock by mutual consent with the Ayrshire team bottom of the Scottish Premiership after eight games.

Kilmarnock have announced that manager Lee McCulloch has left the Scottish Premiership club by mutual consent.

The former Rangers star was handed the job on a permanent basis in the summer after impressing as interim boss, but failed to win any of his first eight league games in charge.

Killie, who have registered three draws and five defeats this season, lie bottom of the table with just three points following Saturday's 2-0 loss at the hands of Ross County.

A statement on Kilmarnock's website said: "The Kilmarnock Football Club Limited can announce the departure of manager Lee McCulloch by mutual consent.

"Lee took charge of the first team in February this year following the departure of Lee Clark before becoming permanent manager after ensuring the club retained our Scottish Premiership status.

"Assistant manager Peter Leven has also departed the club. Lee and Peter would like to thank the directors, players, staff and supporters for their assistance during their time at the club.

"Everyone at Kilmarnock FC thanks Lee and Peter for their hard work and dedication during their time with the club and we wish both all the best for the future."

McCulloch is the second Scottish Premiership manager to find himself out of a job already this season, with Jim McIntyre sacked by Ross County last week before being replaced by Owen Coyle.
