Ipswich Town close to appointment of Shrewsbury Town boss Paul Hurst?

Ipswich Town are reportedly looking to appoint Shrewsbury Town boss Paul Hurst as the club's new manager in the next 48 hours.

Ipswich Town have reportedly moved closer to appointing Paul Hurst as the club's new manager.

On Monday night, Shrewsbury Town confirmed that they had given permission for talks to progress between Hurst and Ipswich after a compensation package had been agreed.

According to Sky Sports News, talks are already at an advanced stage, with the Tractor Boys hoping to secure Hurst's services within the next 48 hours.

Hurst has just guided Shrewsbury to one of their best campaigns but the Shropshire-based club missed out on promotion to the Championship after losing to Rotherham United in Sunday's League One playoff final.

Ipswich have been looking for a new manager since it emerged that Mick McCarthy would leave Portman Road at the end of the season after a five-and-a-half-year spell.
