Chelsea legend Frank Lampard reportedly emerges as a leading candidate for the vacant position at Championship side Ipswich Town.

Ipswich Town have reportedly identified Frank Lampard as a possible managerial appointment at Portman Road.

Last month, Mick McCarthy left his position at Portman Road after over five years in charge, but the Tractor Boys are remaining patient in regards to finding a replacement.

However, according to Sky Sports News, the Championship outfit are considering Lampard for the role, with the Chelsea legend looking to secure his first job in management.

The report claims that the 39-year-old has already held two meetings with owner Marcus Evans, but other contenders remain in the hunt to replace McCarthy.

Paul Hurst and Jack Ross - of Shrewsbury Town and St Mirren respectively - are also allegedly well regarded by Evans, who is not expected to confirm Ipswich's new boss for at least another week.
