Academica, Arouca finishes level

Academica de Coimbra's Primeira Liga match against Arouca finishes level after goals from Goncalo Paciencia and Maurides.

Relegation strugglers Academica de Coimbra have drawn 1-1 against Arouca in the Primeira Liga.

Academica grabbed the first goal of the match in the 11th minute when Goncalo Paciencia's shot hit the back of the net.

Arouca equalised just before half time when Maurides's header beat goalkeeper Pedro Trigueira after Artur's cross.

Paciencia nearly grabbed his second on the hour mark, but his shot flew over the crossbar after beating two defenders.

Then, an error from Maurides let David Simao in on goal, but he failed to take advantage and shot off target.

Maurides came close to winning the game for Arouca in the 80th minute, but Maicon made the last-ditch tackle.

After the result, Academica remain in the relegation zone while Arouca move up to 12th in the Primeira Liga table.
