Wigan's playoff push under manager Uwe Rosler continues

Wigan continue their playoff push under manager Uwe Rosler to close in on the top six, with a comfortable victory against Bournemouth.

Wigan Athletic continued their resurgence under new boss Uwe Rosler to close in on a playoff spot this afternoon, beating Bournemouth 3-0 at the DW Stadium.

An early Marc-Antoine Fortune goal gave the hosts the lead, with the striker turning and firing in a right-footed strike into the top-left corner to leave Bournemouth keeper Lee Camp with no chance.

Minutes after taking the lead Camp denied Callum McManaman, who was through on goal. However, his heavy touch gave the Cherries stopper the opportunity to prevent his side from falling further behind.

Jean Beausejour also had a glorious opportunity to add a second for the hosts before half time, but he somehow managed to scoop his effort over the goal from three yards.

It didn't take long after the interval for Rosler's men to double their advantage, however, with Fortune's shot taking a big deflection off Joel Ward and ending up in the back of the net.

Wigan remained professional as they saw the game out, and added a third through Jordi Gomez whose strike from range sealed a good day for the Latics.
