David Luiz: 'Barcelona were the better team'

Paris Saint-Germain defender David Luiz believes that Champions League quarter-final opponents Barcelona were a "better team" than the French giants on Tuesday night.

Paris Saint-Germain defender David Luiz has claimed that Champions League quarter-final opponents Barcelona were a "better team" and deserved to qualify for the competition's final four at the expense of the Ligue 1 giants.

Laurent Blanc's charges needed to overturn a 3-1 deficit from the first leg at the Parc des Princes, but a Neymar brace at Camp Nou gave the Blaugrana a 2-0 win on Tuesday night to progress to the semi-finals.

Luiz told ITV Sport: "[Barcelona] were a better team than us in both games. They controlled the games and deserved to qualify. They had a great match and took opportunities to score when they came.

"Neymar and Luis Suarez now know what to do in the philosophy of Barca now. We did very well until here, but against Barca we couldn't play at the same level. This is life. We need to improve and next year we will challenge for the Champions League."

Barcelona have now reached the semi-finals of the competition for the seventh time in eight years.
