Chelsea could reportedly move for RB Leipzig centre-back Ibrahima Konate during this summer's transfer window.
The 21-year-old has a contract with Leipzig until June 2023, but it is understood that there will be a €45m (£39m) release clause in his deal during this summer's transfer window.
Manchester United and Arsenal have both been credited with an interest in the Frenchman, who has scored once in 14 appearances at club level during the current season.
However, according to Bild journalist Christian Falk, there is also genuine interest from Chelsea, with the Blues thought to be keen to boost their defensive options in the upcoming market.
Falk claims that the London club's new assistant manager Zsolt Low could play a role in convincing Konate to move to Stamford Bridge, having coached the defender at Leipzig before he followed now-Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel to Paris Saint-Germain.
The France Under-21s international has only just returned to action following a spell on the sidelines with an ankle problem.
