Liverpool prepare to slash Xherdan Shaqiri's asking price amid the coronavirus pandemic, according to a report.

Liverpool are reportedly prepared to slash Xherdan Shaqiri's asking price amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The Switzerland international joined Jurgen Klopp's side from Stoke City for £13m in 2018, but has failed to make a lasting impression at Anfield since his arrival.

Indeed, the winger has chalked up just six Premier League outings this term, leading to suggestions that he could seek pastures new at the end of the season.

According to Football Insider, Liverpool are aware that they will struggle to find a club willing to fork out £28m for the 28-year-old, as the outbreak of COVID-19 threatens serious financial implications for teams across the globe.

However, the report also claims that Shaqiri has already garnered plenty of interest from abroad, with CSKA Moscow, Roma and Sevilla all said to be weighing up moves for the attacker.

Shaqiri's current deal at Anfield will expire in 2023, and he has scored seven goals in 40 appearances for the Reds across all competitions.
