Jamie Vardy praises Leicester after win

Jamie Vardy praises his teammates and Leicester City's physios after equalling Ruud van Nistelrooy's record of scoring in 10 consecutive Premier League matches.

Jamie Vardy has praised his Leicester City teammates and the club's medical team after he scored his 13th goal of the season as the Foxes beat Newcastle United 3-0 to move to the top of the Premier League table.

Vardy scored for the 10th top-flight match running to equal Ruud van Nistelrooy's Premier League record before Leonardo Ulloa and Shinji Okazaki secured victory for Claudio Ranieri's side at St. James's Park.

The striker insisted that his feat was more about the team than himself and thanked the club's physios for getting him back to fitness in time to continue his remarkable form.

"I have matched Ruud van Nistelrooy's record and we have got the three points and clean sheet," he told BBC Sport after the match.

"People kept sending his tweet to me, fair play to him for doing that. We will see what happens next week now against Manchester United. I am still pinching myself every day."

"The physios have done brilliantly to get me fit today. We have a never say die attitude and will fight for each other until the end, we know that we cause teams problems, but we fight for each other and that makes the difference."

The victory was Leicester's eighth from their first 13 league games and moved them one point clear ahead of Manchester United at the top of the Premier League table.
