Everton are determined to win the race for Wigan Athletic teenager Joe Gelhardt this summer, according to a report.

Everton are reportedly preparing an offer for Wigan Athletic teenager Joe Gelhardt.

The 17-year-old has made 15 Championship appearances for the Latics during the 2019-20 campaign and scored his first goal for the club against Hull City back in September.

Gelhardt only signed a new deal at the DW Stadium last August, but Manchester United and Liverpool are both believed to be interested in signing the teenager during this summer's transfer window.

According to Football Insider, Everton have also set their sights on a deal for the youngster and are hopeful of beating a number of clubs to his signature ahead of the 2020-21 campaign.

The Liverpool-born forward, who has previously been dubbed the 'new Wayne Rooney', has scored three times in six appearances for England's Under-18 side.

Gelhardt's existing deal at the DW Stadium will run until the summer of 2021.
