Gary Cahill 'ready to quit Chelsea'

Defender Gary Cahill will reportedly consider his future at Chelsea if he is not regarded as first choice under new head coach Maurizio Sarri.

Chelsea defender Gary Cahill has reportedly started to consider his future at Stamford Bridge.

Cahill has enjoyed a successful six years with the West Londoners, with 282 appearances coming in all competitions and two Premier League and one Champions League being won during that time.

However, Cahill struggled for regular starts during the most recent campaign and although Antonio Conte has now left the club, the 32-year-old is not certain to be handed a recall to the team.

According to the London Evening Standard, Cahill will hold talks with new head coach Maurizio Sarri when he returns from holiday and may decide to leave the Blues should he not be given assurances over his playing time.

Cahill has just 12 months remaining on his deal, and Chelsea - for the most part - do not consider lengthy contract extensions for any player over the age of 30.

Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and David Luiz are also options in the centre of defence, while Juventus's Daniele Rugani continues to be linked with a switch to West London.
