Real Madrid injury update vs. Villarreal: Could Eder Militao miss out for Los Blancos?

Sports Mole rounds up Real Madrid's injury and suspension news ahead of their La Liga clash with Villarreal.

Real Madrid will be aiming to return to winning ways when they continue their 2024-25 La Liga campaign at home to Villarreal on Saturday night.

Carlo Ancelotti's side suffered a 1-0 defeat to Lille in the Champions League on Wednesday, with the loss proving to be the team's first in all competitions since January.

Los Blancos were denied a win in the Madrid derby last weekend courtesy of a late leveller from Atletico Madrid, meanwhile, and they are currently second in the La Liga table, three points behind the leaders Barcelona.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Real Madrid's injury and suspension news ahead of their contest with Villarreal, who are currently third in Spain's top flight after an excellent start.

Eder Militao

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: October 5 (vs. Villarreal)

Real Madrid are sweating over the fitness of Militao for this weekend's contest, as the Brazilian was substituted in the second half of the contest with Lille on Wednesday night to a thigh problem, but he has been included in the squad.

David Alaba

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Alaba suffered an ACL injury last December, which has required two operations to fix; the defender is making solid progress in his recovery, but he will not be back on the field until the end of this year.

Thibaut Courtois

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hip
Possible return date: October 19 (vs. Celta Vigo)

Real Madrid will again be without the services of their number one goalkeeper Courtois on Saturday, with the Belgian out until after the October international break due to a hip problem.

Brahim Diaz

Status: Out
Type of injury: Abductor
Possible return date: November 23 (vs. Leganes)

Real Madrid will be missing Brahim until at least the middle of November due to the hip abductor injury that he suffered against Real Sociedad after the September international break.

Real Madrid have no players suspended for their clash with Villarreal.
