Real Madrid Castilla stunned by Real Union

Real Madrid Castilla's eight-game unbeaten run ends with a 1-0 defeat to Real Union in the Segunda Division.

Real Madrid Castilla saw their run of eight games unbeaten come to an end with a narrow defeat at home to Real Union.

Castilla made a bright start at the Di Stefano Stadium when Cristian Benavente's early effort came back off the crossbar.

However, Madrid found themselves trailing midway through the first half when Inaki Goikoetxea scored against the run of play with a header that proved too much for keeper Ruben Yanez.

The hosts tried to find a way back into the game and came close to an equaliser when Eero Markkanen's header was well saved by Jon Tena Martinez.

Union were able to hold on for a 1-0 victory and have moved ahead of Castilla in the Segunda Division standings.
