Arsenal are reportedly considering whether to make a £70m bid to sign Slovenia international Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig.

Arsenal are reportedly considering whether to make an offer to sign RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko before the transfer deadline.

The Gunners are currently short of striker options after Gabriel Jesus suffered a serious injury in last Sunday's FA Cup defeat to Man United.

Jesus sustained an anterior cruciate ligament injury in the first half and is now expected to miss the rest of the season.

As a result, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has been left with Kai Havertz as the only fit centre-forward option in the senior squad.

A recent report claimed that Arteta has given the green light for the Gunners to pursue a January move for Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres.

Arsenal considering Sesko move

The Gunners have also been linked with a number of other potential targets, including Leipzig's prolific marksman, Sesko.

The Slovenian's agent recently refused to reveal whether Arsenal had made contact over a potential deal for his client, although he admitted that Leipzig are unlikely to entertain a winter departure.

However, The Sun are reporting that Arsenal are weighing up whether to test Leipzig's resolve before the transfer window shuts on February 3.

The Gunners are considering a potential £70m move as well as the possibility of signing Sesko on a loan deal until the end of the season.

The report claims that Arsenal are keen to strengthen their forward options this month rather than wait until the end of the season.

Why are Arsenal interested in Sesko?

Arsenal appear to be one of a number of clubs who have been left impressed with Sesko's impressive form for Marco Rose's side this season.

The 21-year-old has racked up 13 goals and three assists in 25 appearances, including eight goals in 17 Bundesliga matches.

Sesko has found the net in each of his previous five Bundesliga matches, featuring an effort in the recent 2-1 defeat to Stuttgart.

Having showcased his talents at the Red Bull Arena, there is a belief that Sesko could leave in the summer even if a January departure fails to materialise.
