Li Na safely through at US Open

World number six Li Na beats Sweden's Sofia Arvidsson 6-2 6-2 in the second round of the US Open.

World number six Li Na has beaten Sweden's Sofia Arvidsson in straight sets to make it into the third round of the US Open.

The Chinese blitzed through the opening set 6-2 with little difficulty before sealing her progress 6-2 in the second.

Li will now face either British number one Laura Robson or France's Caroline Garcia for a place in round four of the Grand Slam.

The former French Open champion's previous best at the tournament was a quarter-final appearance in 2009.
