Laura Robson: 'New York courts suit me'

Laura Robson says that she needed to pace herself in the rally in order to overcome Lourdes Dominguez Lino in the opening round of the US Open.

British number one Laura Robson believes that she is well suited to the courts at the US Open after advancing from the first round.

The 19-year-old picked up a straight-sets win over Spain's Lourdes Dominguez Lino on Monday, succeeding 7-5 6-0.

Robson admits that she had to make improvements going into the match coming off the back of the last time she faced the Spaniard.

"I love these courts and I think they suit me quite well," Robson told Sky Sports News. "I love New York and I love the atmosphere. There were so many British people on court today and that was amazing.

"I knew I had to pace myself in the rallies - stay aggressive but only go for it when I had the opportunity.

"Previously when I played her that is what I did quite badly I would say, so today I knew that I had to keep doing that and I managed to throughout the match."

Robson will face either France's Caroline Garcia or American Shelby Rogers in the second round.
