Wales are hopeful that Ryan Jones will be fit to take part in their Six Nations opener against Ireland next month.

Wales flanker Ryan Jones should be fit to take part in their Six Nations opener against Ireland next month, according to interim head coach Rob Howley.

Jones is currently recovering from a dislocated thumb, but Howley is "confident" that his depleted squad will receive some positive news ahead of their opening clash on February 2.

"With Ryan it is just the healing process. Thankfully, scans and x-rays showed there was no fracture. We are confident he will be available for selection for the Ireland game," Howley told Sky Sports News.

However, Alun-Wyn Jones, Bradley Davies and Dan Lydiate are all expected to miss out.
