Wigan Athletic to sign David Perkins from Blackpool

Wigan Athletic announce that David Perkins will sign a one-year contract with them this summer after his release from Blackpool.

David Perkins has agreed to sign for Wigan Athletic after it was confirmed that Blackpool were releasing him this summer.

The 32-year-old midfielder will pen a one-year deal to play his football in League One with the Latics next season after they were relegated, along with Blackpool, from the Championship this term.

Wigan boss Gary Caldwell told the club website: "It's a no brainer for me, I've always been impressed with his energy and willingness to give 100%, and we feel he can contribute greatly this season.

"He is a very combative player, always willing to work hard and I'm delighted to add him to the squad. We've been looking at him for a while and I'm sure he can do a good job for us."

Perkins started all but one of Blackpool's Championship games in 2014-15.
