Aston Villa continue to pay Jermaine Jenas, depsite the midfielder's return to Spurs through injury.

Aston Villa will continue to pay Jermaine Jenas, despite the on-loan midfielder's return to parent club Tottenham Hotspur.

The 28-year-old has been ruled out for six months after he injured his Achilles during Villa's 1-0 defeat to Manchester United last Saturday.

However, the terms of the year-long loan agreement means that the Midlands club must pay Jenas's wages for the remainder of the deal.

The situation is expected to cost Villa £1m.
