Sochaux have leapfrogged Evian at the bottom of Ligue 1 with a 2-1 win at the Stade Auguste Bonal.
The victory has seen Eric Hely's side move up to 17th place in the table, while Pascal Dupraz's men have slipped into the drop zone.
The hosts took the lead in the 14th minute when Sloan Privat headed in from Ryad Boudebouz's cross.
Boudebouz then doubled his side's advantage from the penalty spot minutes before the half-time whistle following Djakaridja Kone's handball.
Evian cut the deficit thanks to Youssef Adnane's header on 55 minutes, but they were unable to force an equaliser.
