Ligue 1 title contenders Lyon have been held to a 1-1 by Sochaux away from home.
The home side looked the brighter of the two teams in the opening exchanges, as Ryad Boudebouz went close twice inside the first 20 minutes.
However, it was Lyon who made the breakthrough at Stade Auguste-Bonal midway through the first half when Maxime Gonalons headed in Steed Malbranque's delivery from close range.
Abdoul Camara almost replied for the home side in the 27th minute but narrowly failed to find the target.
Alexandre Lacazette forced Sochaux goalkeeper Simon Pouplin into making a good save before the break, and four minutes after the interval Rachid Ghezzal tested him.
Lisandro Lopez too troubled Pouplin with a shot from close range in the 54th minute, just minutes after Sloan Privat's header went just wide.
Sochaux eventually equalised and the goal came in the 71st minute, Privat latching on to Boudebouz's through ball to fire in from close range.
