A stoppage-time equaliser secured a 1-1 draw for Galatasaray in their opening Champions League group match against Anderlecht this evening.

Dennis Praet put the Belgian side ahead early in the second half, but Burak Yilmaz slotted in from close range late on to ensure that the match finished level.

The result leaves them joint-second in Group D.

Good evening! The first round of matches in the group stage of the Champions League gets underway tonight, with Galatasaray and Anderlecht meeting in Group D. Both teams have already named their teams, so lets take a look at the squads...

GALATASARAY STARTING XI: Muslera, Telles, Chedjou, Kaya, Sari, Melo, Dzemaili, Inan, Sneijder, Yilmaz, Pandev

ANDERLECHT STARTING XI: Roef, Deschacht, Nuytinck, Mbemba, Praet, Defour, Tielemans, Najar, Acheampong, Conte, Mitrovic

GALATASARAY SUBSTITUTES: Bolat, Balta, Camdal, Bruma, Adin, Kurtulus, Bulut

ANDERLECHT SUBSTITUTES: Kudimbana, Colin, Kljestan, Dendoncker, Suarez, Cyriac, Kabasele

Despite a calf problem, Semih Kaya starts in midfield for the hosts. Meanwhile, Wesley Sneijder starts in midfield for the Turks alongside Blerim Dzemaili. The visitors are missing captain Silvio Proto, is is suspended, but Matias Suarez is on the bench after recovering from a cruciate ligament injury which has kept him sidelined for several months.

Ahead of kickoff, Anderleach coach Besnik Hasi told reporters: "We have a young, ambitious and talented team, we have new signings. The opposition we are playing are very powerful both in defence and attack. Our chance of getting points depends on tactics, if we play our own game, why not?"

Following Roberto Mancini's departure over the summer, former Italy coach Cesare Prandelli takes charge of Galatasaray. At his pre-match press conference, he said: "We might fall behind during the game. Our fans should always be backing us as we are stronger with them. We'll try to get three points with the help of our fans. We'll play against an organised, very young and interesting team. They will be ambitious to impress. Therefore we need to be careful."

This is only the second time that Galatasaray have come up against Belgian opposition, having previously met Club Brugge in the 2002-03 campaign. On that occasion, they drew 0-0 at home, before losing 3-1 away.

Anderlecht last progressed from the groups in 2001. Since then, they have finished bottom in their group on all seven occasions that they have come through the qualifiers. With Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund also in this group, the Belgians face a tough task if they are to avoid another fourth-placed finish this year.

Anderlecht's away record in recent years does not bode well for this evening's trip to Turkey. Since beating Real Betis in the 2005-06 campaign, Anderlecht have played nine matches away from home in the Champions League, losing four and drawing five.

Galatasaray captain Selcuk Inan is making his 18th consecutive start for the Istanbul side in this competition. His performances for the team have come under scrutiny in the Turkish press recently, so he'll be hoping for a solid performance against a side which have struggled in this tournament in recent years.

There are a few firsts for both squads tonight. Goran Pandev and Blerim Dzemaili both make their first home appearances for Galatasaray in this competition, while Anderlecht goalkeeper Davy Roef is making his Champions League debut. The young keeper comes in for captain Silvio Proto, who is serving a one-match suspension.

Like Anderlecht, Galatasaray have been out warming up in front of a pretty full crowd at the Turk Telekom Arena.

While Anderlecht have not progressed beyond the group stage for over a decade, Galatasaray have had some decent runs in Europe in recent seasons. They followed up a quarter-final appearance in 2013 with a spot in the last 16 last season.

With kickoff under 15 minutes away now, let me remind you that Sports Mole have live commentaries from all eight of the Champions League matches taking place this evening, including the other Group D match between Dortmund and Arsenal.

Both clubs have been in mixed form domestically coming into this match. Anderlecht made a strong start to the season, winning three of their first four matches, but have drawn on three of their last four outings. Meanwhile, in their three Turkish Superliga matches so far this campaign, Galatasaray have drawn twice and won once.

There are a few banners in the crowd bearing the slogan "no respect to match fixing" in protest to the Turkish FA supposedly not taking action against clubs that are thought to have been involved in match fixing. It's also expected that the supporters will turn their backs to the pitch at the start of the match as part of the protest.

The players from both teams are getting ready in the tunnel to head out for kickoff along with Hungarian referee Istvan Vad. In fact, here come the teams...

Both sets of players line up on the pitch for the Champions League anthem and the pre-match handshakes. Just a quick note on the weather before we get underway, it's pretty hot and humid in Istanbul this evening, while the pitch is a little on the soft side following some rain over the last couple of days.

KICKOFF! Galatasaray get the match underway.

The hosts try to pile forward early on as they try to put the Belgians under pressure, but hosts are almost caught out on Ibrahima Conte goes on the counter-attack for Anderlecht, but his teammates aren't there in support, and he can't get the shot away.

BOOKING! Bram Nuytinck goes in for an early challenge on Burak Yilmaz, but he gets it wrong and leaves the Galatasaray striker clutching him hamstring, which also earns him a yellow card. The Anderlecht defender will have to be careful for the rest of the match.

Anderlecht have had the majority of the possession in the opening five minutes, with Acheampong and Conte both looking lively up front, but the former times his cross wrong, sending the ball behind for a goal kick.

CHANCE! Galatasaray have the first corner of the match as Mbemba beats Sneijder to a wide ball. Melo tries to head in from the centre of the penalty area, but young Anderlecht goalkeeper Davy Roef keeps a cool head to make his first Champions League save.

CHANCE! Fernando Muslera immediately comes under pressure at the other end as Acheampong shows phenomenal pace as he races down the left before crossing in towards Tielemans, but the Galatasaray keeper gets to it first.

Anderleacht win a free kick out wide around 30 yards out, but it's curled harmlessly into the arms of Muslera. Both sides have made really positive starts to the match, with both clearly pressing for an early goal, but neither have really forced a crucial save from the opposition keeper yet.

Dzemaili tries to play his way through the centre, but Anderlecht defender are ready for the move, and quickly take back possession. Down the other end Yoeri Tielemans, who at 17 is the youngest player on the pitch this evening, unleashes a rather hopeful shot from 30 yards out, but it was always rising and ends up high in the stand behind the goal.

A mistake from Felipe Melo lets Conte make a dash to the edge of the box before looking for Acheampong, but Kaya makes a block. However, it's left the Galatasaray defender on the ground in quite some pain, although it looks like he'll be alright to continue after some treatment.

Galatasaray have been kept pretty quiet so far this evening, but a quick run from Sneijder catches out the Anderlecht defenders. He crosses the ball in for Selcuk, but the captain loses out to Conte.

Galatasaray win a free kick in a dangerous position after Defour charges into Dzemaili around 25 yards out. Sneijder curls the ball in, but Yilmaz can only fire wide.

SUB! The visitors are forced to make a change, with Bram Nuytinck, who was booked earlier on, making way for Matias Suarez, who missed most of last season with a knee ligament problem.

CHANCE! Anderlecht are on the attack again, with Tielemens drilling the ball in for Mitrovic, before Suarez picks out Conte, but the midfielder's finish is just wide. Suarez has certainly injected some pace into the Belgian side's attack since coming off the bench.

CHANCE! Mitrovic shows brilliant skill as he keeps the ball alive on the edge of the area, beating two defenders before hitting his shot on the turn, but the ball is straight at Muslera. Anderlecht are looking really sharp at the moment.

CHANCE! Muslera is keeping Galatasaray in this match at the moment as the visitors win a free kick, allowing Defour to launch the ball into the box. The hosts fail to deal with the threat, resulting in the ball falling for Deschacht, but the defender isn't known for his shooting prowess, and sends a tame shot into the keepers arms.

Galatasaray have seen a little more of the ball in the last couple of minutes, but Sneijder saw his shot well blocked by Deschacht, while Najar was in the way as Dzemaili tried to fire in the rebound. The Swiss international had a half-hearted appeal for a handball, but the referee wasn't interested.

BOOKING! Ibrahima Conte picks up the second yellow of the evening for a clash with Alex Telles in midfield. The Anderlecht man seems surprised to be shown the card, as it did look to be an accidental collision.

CHANCE! From nowhere, the hosts are bearing down on the Anderlecht box again, with Melo blasting the ball towards the goal, but his finish is deflected behind for a corner, which is swiftly cleared by the visitors.

BOOKING! Steven Defour is the third Anderlecht player to go in the book for a handball on the edge of the box, which also gives Galatasaray a free kick in a dangerous position.

CHANCE! Captain Selcuk Inan steps up, curling the ball around the wall, but it just clips the outside of the post as it goes wide, with keeper Davy Roef confidently leaving it.

Anderlecht are just starting to get a little scrappy as they try to keep Galatasaray from snatching a lead late in the first half, with Acheampong and Defour both committing fouls, but the hosts can't capitalise, as Yilmaz drifts offside while trying to set up a chance.

Galatasaray win a corner, but it's easily cleared an Acheampong tears down the other end, attempting to pull the ball back for Suarez, but Muslera comes off his line and beats the substitute to the ball.

HALF TIME: Galatasaray 0-0 Anderlecht

So it remains goalless at the break in Istanbul in an entertaining opening 45 minutes in the Champions League clash between Galatasaray and Anderlecht.

The visitors have had the better of the chances so far, showing plenty of pace and intent on the counter-attack, but Galatasaray finished the half strongly.

Let's take a look at some of the stats from the first half...
Galatasaray have just edged the possession with 52%, and actually had the more shots, with seven attempts at goal. However, two of Anderlecht's five efforts were on target, while Roef is yet to record a proper save, having only gathered a couple of times from corners so far. Discipline could become an issue for the visitors though, as they've already had three players booked, although Bram Nuytinck has been substituted.

The players are making their way back out ready for the second half. It doesn't look like either side is making any changes for the start of the second half.

KICKOFF! Anderlecht get the match back underway.

Galatasaray are on the attack straight away, with Sneijder firing a superb pass forward for Dzemaili, but his attempted cross was well blocked by Mbemba.

CHANCE! Galatasaray are through on goal again, but Sneijder can only pull his shot wide from close range. It wouldn't have counted anyway though, as Yilmaz was penalised for a foul on Deschacht in the buildup.

Yilmaz and Pandev link up on the edge of the box as the home side continue to put their opponents under pressure early in the second half. The ball eventually falls to Sneijder, but the Dutchman is offside.

GOAL! Galatasaray 0-1 Anderlecht (Dennis Praet)

What a finish from Dennis Praet to give Anderlecht the lead against the run of play in Istanbul. The hosts have a free kick, but Steven Defour intercepts and races towards the Galatasaray goal before crossing in for Praet, who rifles the ball in from the edge of the box.

CHANCE! Mitrovic has a chance to double the visitors' advantage as Suarez feed it through for the striker, but he mis-times the shot, pulling it well wide despite having just Muslera to beat.

CHANCE! Anderlecht are full of confidence as the moment as they pile back into the Galatasaray box, but Najar's shot in comfortably saved by Muslera.

CHANCE! Galatasaray try to set up an equaliser as Dzemaili wins a free kick, resulting in a shot for Pandev, but Roef confidently punches his effort away.

SUB! The shot will be Pandev's final contribution as Portuguese youngster Bruma is brought on in his place.

PENALTY APPEAL! The hosts want a penalty as Bruma tangles with Mbemba, but the referee rules that the Anderlecht man got the ball, and the replays seem to back him up. However, it has left he substitute off the pitch receiving treatment just two minutes after coming off the bench.

CHANCE! Bruma manages to shake off the earlier challenge to get back into the action, but Roef comes off his line to make a solid save. The young goalkeeper has had a bit more to do in the second half on his Champions League debut, but he's coping brilliantly.

BOOKING! Felipe Melo is the first Galatasaray player to be shown the yellow card after charging into Suarez.

BOOKING! The tackles are flying in now, with both teams knowing that the next goal could be vital. Frank Acheampong goes in too heavy on Veysel Sari though, and is given a yellow card.

CHANCE! Selcuk Inan takes the resulting free kick following the foul on Sari, but Roef does enough to turn it behind for a corner, which the visitors manage to clear with ease.

SUB! The visitors make their second change, bringing a fresh set of legs into the attack, with Sacha Kljestan taking the place of Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Galatasaray are seeing the majority of the ball and have a bit more urgency about their play at the moment, but Anderlecht are still making the most of their opportunities on the counter, but Suarez is flagged offside while racing towards the box.

SUB! The hosts are making another change, with captain Selcuk Inan making way for Umut Bulut. As a result, Sneijder takes the captain's armband for the final 20 minutes.

Here's a shot of Dennis Praet celebrating the goal that gave Anderlecht the lead with his teammates earlier in this second half:

Bruma's introduction a short while ago has certainly added some much-needed pace to the Galatasaray attack, but he's been kept rather quiet in the last five minutes or so as Anderlecht seem to have the measure of their opponents at the back at the moment. The hosts may need to change things around if they're to get back on level terms.

Just as I say that, Bruma wins the ball in midfield and shakes off several takes as he plays his way into the box, but Dzemaili drifts offside as the winger tries to cross in.

SUB! Anderlecht goalscorer Praet picks up a knock while defending the Bruma chance a few minutes ago, and he can't shake it off, so the visitors make their final change, sending on Leander Dendoncker.

SUB! Tarik Camdal, who joined Galatasaray on transfer deadline day, comes on to make his Champions League debut in a straight swap at left-back with Alex Telles.

CHANCE! Bruma has probably been Galatasaray's best player this evening, despite not coming on until midway through the second half, as he puts the visitors under pressure again, using his impressive footwork skills to get the better of two defender, but his shot is well blocked by Deschacht.

CHANCE! Sneijder sends a superb through-ball to Veysel, but the defender's ball into the box is just dreadful, lacking power and direction to give Mbemba an easy clearance.

UPDATE! If you've not been following the other game in Group D this evening, you'll probably be interested to hear that Arsenal are losing 2-0 to Borussia Dortmund this evening. Should both games finish with their current scorelines, then Anderlecht would sit second in the group.

CHANCE! Galatasaray have a perfect opportunity to get back on level terms as Melo's blocked effort drops to Burak, but his shot if deflected just inches wide. Roef, who has looked pretty solid filling in between the posts for Anderlecht this evening, initially spills the ball from the corner, but he keeps hold at the second time of asking.

CHANCE! How many more chances are Galatasaray going to waste! Yilmaz makes a superb run on the break, with only Roef to beat, but he elects to pull the ball back to Bruma instead, giving Mbemba time to get back and make the clearance.

CHANCE! Roef launches the ball deep to give Anderlecht a chance to put to win beyond doubt. Suarez wins it out wide and carves his way through the defence, but Muslera makes the save to keep the hosts in contention.

GOAL! Galatasaray 1-1 Anderlecht (Burak Yilmaz)

Galatasaray have Aurelien Chedjou to thank for their equaliser, as the defender makes a superb run, rounding Kljestan to slice the ball back for Burak Yilmaz to slot the ball home from close range.

FULL TIME: Galatasaray 1-1 Anderlecht

An injury-time equaliser from Burak Yilmaz denied Anderlecht their first Champions League away win in nine seasons, after Dennies Praet gave the Belgians the lead earlier in the second half.

With Borussia Dortmund beating Arsenal in the other game in Group D, the result leaves these two sides joint second behind the Bundesliga side.

Well that's all from me for now, but stick around for match reports, player ratings, analysis and reaction to this match and the other Champions League fixtures taking place this evening, and join us again tomorrow when there will be eight more fixtures in Europe's top club competition.
