Sven-Goran Eriksson: 'John Terry would be a success in China'

Former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson says that Chelsea defender John Terry would be a success in China should he decide to make the lucrative switch to Asia.

Sven-Goran Eriksson has suggested that he would not be surprised if John Terry became the latest high-profile name to move to China.

In recent weeks, the likes of Ezequiel Lavezzi, Jackson Martinez and Alex Teixeira have all completed lucrative transfers to Asia, and with Terry's deal at Chelsea expiring during the summer, he has been linked with a switch to the Chinese Super League.

Terry will have no shortage of offers should he leave Stamford Bridge, but Eriksson has said that he would be a success if he became the latest household figure to leave Europe.

The Swede told The Sun: "There is a lot of talk about John Terry in China. He has been one of the greatest defenders in the world for the last 15 years.

"He is still doing very well and has a lot to offer. He is one of the most recognizable players in world football, Chinese teams are looking for these big players.

"Great teams need great leaders and they do not come much better than John Terry. With his skill, his experience, he would be great in China, I have no doubt about that."

Eriksson is currently in charge of Shanghai SIPG FC.
