Half-Time Report: Atletico Madrid trailing Levante

Atletico suffer a hiccup in their pursuit of La Liga glory after Levante register a 1-0 half-time lead.

Atletico Madrid have suffered a hiccup in their pursuit of the La Liga title after Levante registered a 1-0 half-time lead over Diego Simeone's side today.

The hosts took the lead in somewhat fortuitous circumstances after seven minutes courtesy of an own goal from Filipe Luis.

The defender diverted the ball into his own net following a goalmouth scramble as goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois was beaten for the first time since March in league competition.

Simeone's men then spurned two good opportunities in quick succession to restore parity, as Raul Garcia saw his point-blank effort denied by keeper Keilor Navas before David Villa failed to keep his rebound under the crossbar.

Soon came the turn of Toby Alderweireld to try level matters, but the Belgian youngster drew another impressive save from Navas seven minutes before the break.
