Champion Tomas Berdych vows to return to the Rotterdam Open to defend his title next year after beating Marin Cilic 6-4 6-2 in the 2014 final.

Champion Tomas Berdych has vowed to return to the Rotterdam Open to defend his title next year.

The world number seven picked up his first ATP Tour crown of 2014 on Sunday when he beat Croatia's Marin Cilic 6-4 6-2 in the final of the indoor event.

"I am very happy to win this tournament," Berdych told reporters.

"There are always strong competitors in Rotterdam. This year there were five players out of the top-10.

"Next year I will be back to defend my title."

Berdych's path to the final saw him defeat Andreas Seppi, Nicolas Mahut, Jerzy Janowicz and Ernests Gulbis.
