Tomas Berdych beats Marin Cilic to Rotterdam title

The Czech Republic's Tomas Berdych wins his first title in 16 months with a 6-4 6-2 victory over Marin Cilic in the final of the Rotterdam Open.

Tomas Berdych has won his first ATP title since October 2012 by beating Marin Cilic 6-4 6-2 in the final of the Rotterdam Open.

The Croatian had looked strong throughout the tournament, knocking Britain's Andy Murray out in the quarter-finals, but a string of errors late in the first set allowed his Czech opponent to clinch the opener.

The third seed was in dominant form in the second set, while Cilic struggled with his serve, allowing the world number seven to wrap up the contest in straight sets.

The result ends a run of nine wins in a row for Cilic, who won the title in Zagreb last week.
