How Wolverhampton Wanderers could line up against Olympiacos

Sports Mole looks at how Wolverhampton Wanderers could line up for Thursday's Europa League fixture with Olympiacos.

Wolverhampton Wanderers go up against Olympiacos on Thursday evening looking to book a place in the Europa League quarter-finals.

In the final few hours before football was officially halted due to the coronavirus pandemic, Wolves secured a 1-1 draw in the behind-closed-doors first leg in Greece.

Having missed out on qualifying for Europe via the Premier League, Nuno Espirito Santo and his players are under pressure to perform against opponents who have recently won their domestic title by 18 points.

Below, Sports Mole predicts how Wolves could line up for the fixture in the West Midlands.

With a fully-fit squad to choose from, Nuno must decide whether to play with a 3-4-3 or 3-5-2 formation.

Holding a slender advantage on aggregate courtesy of an away goal, the Portuguese may opt for the latter, bringing in Leander Dendoncker to partner Joao Moutinho and Ruben Neves.

That would probably lead to Adama Traore having to make do with a place among the replacements, with Diogo Jota more likely to play alongside Raul Jimenez down the middle.

Although Pedro Neto and Daniel Podence have recently staked their claim to move ahead of Jota in the pecking order, they are expected to be named on the substitutes' bench.

Barring any late fitness issues, Nuno should stick with his tried-and-trusted options in defence and at wing-back, where Jonny is likely to get the nod over Ruben Vinagre.
