Carlton Cole has reportedly agreed a three-month deal with West Ham United.
The 29-year-old was released by the Hammers in the summer, but returned to training with Sam Allardyce's men after failing to secure a contract elsewhere.
Modibo Maiga and Mladen Petric are the only fit strikers available to the 58-year-old coach, who is struggling to cover for the injury to record signing Andy Carroll.
Cole was said to be in talks with Saint-Etienne and Queens Park Rangers during the transfer window, but a return to Upton Park is expected to be confirmed within the next 24 hours.
The England international scored 47 league goals in 206 games in his first spell in East London.
