Sam Foley rescues draw for Port Vale

Port Vale's Sam Foley keeps his cool to level from the spot in the 96th minute and earn his side a 2-2 draw with Swindon Town.

A Sam Foley penalty deep into second-half injury time rescued a 2-2 draw for Port Vale against Swindon Town at the County Ground this evening.

Jak Alnwick was called into action early on when he had to be alert to race off his line and clear the danger after Michael Smith had been played in by Nathan Byrne.

It was an early warning sign for the visitors, who found themselves behind on 13 minutes when Fabien Robert curled home from inside the area.

However, Vale weren't behind for long as Uche Ikpeazu powered through the Swindon defence and fired home to level the game.

Foley almost put his side ahead just before the break when he set off on a mazy run towards goal, but his shot was saved by Lawrence Vigouroux.

Vale began the second half brightly and could have taken the lead if Louis Dodds had managed to make contact with Byron Moore's enticing cross.

Swindon matched their visitors for attacking intent, though, and retook the lead just after the hour mark when Anton Rodgers collected a through-ball and finished calmly.

Vale made a triple substitution in a bid to force their way back into the game, and saw several late chances for AJ Leitch-Smith come and go.

Just as it seemed that Swindon would hold on for the win, Foley stepped up and kept his nerve to earn his side a point from the penalty spot.
