Martin O'Neill says that he is frustrated after Sunderland picked up three injuries during their win over Reading on Tuesday.

Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill has revealed his frustration after he witnessed three of his players limp out of their match with Reading in the Premier League.

The Black Cats brushed aside the Royals 3-0 at the Stadium of Light on Tuesday after goals from James McClean, Steven Fletcher and Stephane Sessegnon.

However, Phil Bardsley, Adam Johnson and Danny Rose all picked up problems during the match, and O'Neill admits that the timing of the blows is far from ideal.

"You're going to pick up injuries and we've had a number here recently and the last thing you want do is start complaining about them because it feels as if you're calling it in," said O'Neill.

"Tonight I think Phil Bardsley may be the worst of the three as he hurt his knee and I think there is ligament damage, so I'm told by the medical staff. Adam Johnson has a dead leg which he was unable to run off just before half time and Danny Rose was injured after half an hour, saw it through until half time, and did brilliantly and almost saw it through.

"We've got a hectic schedule just ahead of us and maybe on the injury front it's not great news but we'll try and see it through if we can to the New Year."

Sunderland travel to Manchester United on Saturday.
