Stoke City striker Michael Owen has insisted that he has enjoyed his career following his last professional game.
The 33-year-old came on as a substitute for the Potters during their 1-1 draw at Southampton in the Premier League on Sunday.
That brought an end to Owen's 17-year playing career after making his senior debut for Liverpool in 1996.
"It has been a pleasure to play this game, it has been special," Owen is quoted as saying by BBC Sport.
"You never see what is going to happen, but I always knew I was going to be a footballer. That sounds arrogant, but it is the truth."
Owen is now expected to further his interests in horse racing while increasing his media work.
