Wolves captain Roger Johnson says the side were "devastated" after their loss to Tottenham Hotspur at Molineux.

New Wolves captain Roger Johnson has admitted that he was "gutted" over his side's first loss of the season last weekend.

Mick McCarthy's men had an impressive start to the season, with seven points from their first three games, but came unstuck with a 2-0 home defeat to Spurs on Saturday.

"We were going to lose at some point because no-one stays unbeaten," the 28-year-old defender told the club's website. "But considering the performance we put in on Saturday, we were gutted at the result.

"It was disappointing and after the match the lads were all sat in there devastated."

Johnson added that his team had put in a "good performance" but conceded two "sloppy" goals.

"We were gutted and didn't feel as if we deserved the final outcome. People looking at it who hadn't seen the game might think we got pumped, which wasn't the case. Football has a habit of coming back to bite you like that."

Wolves have another home fixture on Saturday, this time against League newcomers QPR.
