Emmanuel Adebayor wants Tim Sherwood stay

Tottenham Hotspur striker Emmanuel Adebayor expresses his desire to see manager Tim Sherwood remain at the club next season.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Emmanuel Adebayor has expressed his desire to see manager Tim Sherwood remain at the club beyond the end of the current season.

Speculation has been rife that Sherwood will be sacked at the end of the campaign despite having only succeeded former boss Andre Villas-Boas in December.

However, Adebayor, who scored two goals in his side's 5-1 win over Sunderland this evening, wants Sherwood to stay having enjoyed a lot more playing time under the 45-year-old.

"I keep saying it and no matter what happens to the manager I respect him, I'm very happy to be back on the pitch scoring goals," Adebayor told Sky Sports News.

"He has been a big part of my life, when everyone forgot me he brought me back in and gave me my life back. I hope he stays but I am not the chairman, I just need to keep focussed on the job in hand and scoring goals."

Tonight's result lifted Spurs back up to sixth in the Premier League table, just five points behind fourth-placed Arsenal.
