Rangers held by Stranraer

Jamie Longworth scores deep into injury time to earn Stranraer a 1-1 draw at Rangers in the Scottish League One.

Rangers have failed to extend their winning run to 20 matches in all competitions as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Stranraer at home in the Scottish League One.

The Glasgow giants had the first chance of the contest after four minutes when Lee McCulloch's header went just wide.

Lee Wallace had an effort on goal saved six minutes later, before Nicky Law's long-range shot drifted wide of the target.

Rangers continued to dominate proceedings at Ibrox, with Nicky Clark, Bilel Mohsni and Ian Black all putting the Stranraer defence under pressure, and eventually broke the deadlock eight minutes before half time.

Frank McKeown brought down Clark inside his own penalty area and McCulloch slotted home the resulting spot kick.

Andrew Stirling tried to hit back at Rangers with a shot from outside the box five minutes into the second half, but failed to keep it on target.

However, Rangers soon regained control of the momentum at Ibrox, as Andrew Little tried his luck from distance on the hour mark and minutes later Law rattled the crossbar with a shot from outside the Stranraer box.

The visitors stepped up their game in the final 15 minutes of the match and earned a point with an equaliser in the fourth minute of injury time when Jamie Longworth found the target, as Rangers moved 11 points clear at the top of the table with a game in hand.
