Shola Ameobi believes that his brother, Sammy, has the ability to go far in football.

Newcastle United striker Shola Ameobi has tipped his brother Sammy to exceed his achievements and go a long way in football.

Shola, who has been at the club for his entire career, has said that Sammy, who has come through the club's youth system, is also aware of what it takes to make it in the Premier League.

"I feel that as a big brother, I have to make sure he's on the right track all the time," Sky Sports News quotes Shola as saying. "I know my parents expect that of me, and it's something I'm conscious about doing.

"I'm sure he's well aware of how hard it's going to be and what he has to put in to make it to the very top.

"I want to see him surpass anything I've ever done in this game and I know he has the ability to do that. He can do that, without a shadow of a doubt."

Shola Ameobi has 50 league goals for Newcastle in 174 appearances.
