Francisco Soares goal gives Nacional win over Vitoria de Guimaraes

Francisco dos Santos hits the back of the net during Nacional's 1-0 win over Vitoria de Guimaraes in the Primeira Liga.

Francisco Soares scored the only goal of the game as Nacional overcame Vitoria de Guimaraes in the Primeira Liga.

Nacional spent much of the match defending but Soares's 37th minute goal secured the three points.

The Madeira club had just 43% of the possession throughout the match and goalkeeper Tiago Silva was called into action five times.

Tomane led the line for Vitoria, with Oliveira Valente and Ricardo Gomes in support, but the trio were unable to breach the Nacional defence on a disappointing night for Sergio Conceicao's side.

The result sees Nacional move up to 10th in the Primeira Liga table with Vitoria dropping to 13th.
