Manchester United's Louis van Gaal: 'We need to buy speedy and creative wingers'

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal suggests that he will target 'speedy and creative' wingers in the transfer window.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has suggested that he will need to dip into the transfer market to buy a new winger.

The Dutchman currently has Juan Mata, Memphis Depay and Jesse Lingard, who scored his first senior goal in Saturday's win over West Bromwich Albion, at his disposal.

However, the 64-year-old, who has spent around £250m in transfers, believes that he needs players with more pace and creativity.

"I have said already in my first year many times we need speed and creativity on the wings," Van Gaal told reporters. "You have seen that now we play with Lingard and Mata and they are not the most speedy wingers in the world.

"So first we must first finish that problem and then we can see how we play and how we are in balance when playing with speedy wingers.

"I want to buy a lot of players but not all the players I want are for sale. It is dependent on a lot of factors."

United are currently fourth in the Premier League table, two points behind leaders Manchester City.
