Bastian Schweinsteiger unlikely to play for Manchester United again this season

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal confirms that Bastian Schweinsteiger is unlikely to play again this season because of knee ligament damage.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has confirmed that Bastian Schweinsteiger is unlikely to play again this season because of a knee injury.

The German World Cup winner, who signed for the Red Devils from Bayern Munich last summer, has struggled with injuries in the second half of the campaign.

The 31-year-old damaged knee ligaments while on international duty with Germany last month and has not played since.

Today, Van Gaal told reporters that Schweinsteiger is unlikely to grace United's midfield again this season, which pours doubt over his chances of making Joachim Low's Germany team for this summer's European Championships.
