Crystal Palace see off Liverpool at sodden Selhurst Park

Crystal Palace score twice in the last 15 minutes to beat Liverpool 3-1 in their Premier League game at Selhurst Park.

Mile Jedinak curled home a pinpoint 81st-minute free kick to seal a 3-1 win for Crystal Palace in this afternoon's Premier League match against Liverpool.

The Eagles' skipper picked out the top corner for a second Palace goal in three minutes that completed a rousing comeback at a sodden Selhurst Park.

Liverpool took the lead inside the opening 90 seconds, and it was a memorable moment for Rickie Lambert as he netted his first goal for his boyhood club since a summer switch from Southampton.

The striker, starting in place of the injured Mario Balotelli, stole in behind former Liverpool full-back Martin Kelly and controlled Adam Lallana's through ball before tucking under Julian Speroni.

Palace were level a quarter of an hour later when Dwight Gayle scored his fourth goal in three Premier League games against Liverpool with a poked finish, after Yannick Bolasie's fizzing low shot had bounced back off the foot of the post.

Lambert headed a Steven Gerrard free kick over the top not long after, but it was Palace who finished the first half stronger, with Bolasie going close on several occasions.

Liverpool could have retaken the lead with 20 minutes left, but Javier Manquillo screwed his uncontested shot well wide. In fact, Lambert's second-minute goal was the visitors' only shot on target during the whole game.

Palace took the lead for the first time in the 78th minute when Joe Ledley sidefooted through the legs of Mignolet from a Bolasie cutback.

Jedinak then put the icing on the cake with a free kick that curled over the wall and found the top corner past Mignolet's despairing dive.

Defeat is Liverpool's fourth in a row in all competitions and they are now just two points above Palace, who climb out of the bottom three and up to 15th in the Premier League table with their first win in six games.
