Liverpool progressed through to the last 32 of the Europa League with a 2-1 victory over Bordeaux at Anfield this evening.

Simon Mignolet's error allowed Henri Saivet to give the visitors the lead shortly after the half-hour mark, but Liverpool turned things around before the interval courtesy of a James Milner penalty and Christian Benteke strike.

Here, Sports Mole looks at who stood out as Jurgen Klopp's side booked their place in the knockout stages with a game to spare.

LIVERPOOL

Goal

Simon Mignolet: At fault for the Bordeaux goal having been penalised for keeping the ball in his hands for more than 21 seconds, when the rule limits keepers to only six. It was a comical error, although no-one in Liverpool red was laughing at the time. (5/10)

Defence

Nathaniel Clyne: Wasn't able to get forward quite as much as he would have liked. Did provide the assist for the second goal, but that was all about Benteke's finish. (6/10)

Kolo Toure: Kept the Bordeaux threats to a minimum with a solid performance at the back. Nothing he could have done about the visitors' goal. (7/10)

Dejan Lovren: A similarly error-free display at the back as Liverpool's oft-maligned defensive duo provided a decent partnership this evening. (7/10)

Alberto Moreno: Always eager to get forward down the left and provided a good outlet for his side. Rarely caught out at the other end of the field either. (7/10)

Midfield

James Milner: Levelled things up with a cool penalty having provided the cross that led to the spot kick being awarded. A performance full of energy as he played his part at both ends of the field. (7/10)

Lucas Leiva: Won't make any headlines but was once again an important figure at the base of the midfield trio. Broke up plenty of attacks and was tidy in possession too. (7/10)

Joe Allen: Full of energy throughout his time on the field, getting forward on a few occasions and never found lacking when it came to his defensive duties. (7/10)

Attack

Roberto Firmino: Squandered one decent chance and set Benteke up for another, but it was an understated display, especially compared to his performance against Man City. (6/10)

Christian Benteke: Led the line very well, using his power to really trouble the Bordeaux defence. Won the penalty for his side before slamming home what proved to be the winner on the stroke of half time. Had the ball in the back of the net on two other occasions too, with one correctly disallowed and one harshly so. (8/10)

Jordon Ibe: Was good and positive with his running, attacking defenders directly and never giving them an easy time of it. (7/10)

Substitutes

Emre Can: Replaced Allen with a little over 20 minutes remaining and set up Milner for a shot as his most notable contribution. (6/10)

Adam Lallana: On for Firmino but couldn't make an impact during his 15-minute cameo. (6/10)

Divock Origi: Given a couple of minutes in stoppage time as Liverpool saw the game out. (6/10)

BORDEAUX

Goal

Cedric Carrasso: Nothing he could do about either Liverpool goal, but did prevent it from becoming worse with a decent save to deny Ibe in the second half. (6/10)

Defence

Andre Biyogo Poko: Struggled up against the marauding Moreno and Ibe in the first half, with Liverpool's best moments coming down his flank. (5/10)

Cedric Yambere: Couldn't cope with the power of Benteke at times and perhaps could have done better for the Belgian's goal, although he appeared to lose his balance at the worst possible moment. (5/10)

Ludovic Sane: Put in a good display overall, but did concede the penalty moments after his side had taken the lead. It was a soft one, but there was no need for Sane to make any sort of challenge on Benteke. (6/10)

Diego Contento: Was able to get forward fairly regularly and, while his final ball could have been better, he certainly added to the Bordeaux attacking threat. Had a couple of sights of goal himself late on. (6/10)

Midfield

Diego Rolan: Looked bright on a few occasions when in possession of the ball, with his direct running causing one or two problems. He struggled to get too much joy out of Moreno, though. (6/10)

Jaroslav Plasil: Solid performance in the middle of the park, both in support of those in front of him and protecting those behind him. (6/10)

Henri Saivet: Got Bordeaux's goal with a fine finish into the top corner and almost snatched a late draw with another vicious free kick. Had a few questionable long-range efforts, but looked like the most dangerous of Bordeaux's players. (7/10)

Clement Chantome: Tidy in possession throughout and was almost gifted an early opener when Mignolet's header went straight to him, only for Toure to block his shot with the goal gaping. (7/10)

Jussie: Scored the equaliser in the reverse fixture but was unable to make a major impact this evening before being taken off with 15 minutes to go. (6/10)

Attack

Enzo Crivelli: Linked up well enough with those around him, but goalscoring chances were at a premium for him tonight. (6/10)

Substitutes

Cheick Diabate: Replaced Crivelli to give Bordeaux a different threat up front, although he too barely got a sniff. (6/10)

Nicolas Maurice-Belay: Created one good chance for himself by flicking the ball over the head of Lallana in the box, only to blaze his shot over the top under pressure from Toure. (6/10)

Adam Ounas: Introduced with a little over five minutes remaining and had no time to change the course of the match. (6/10)
