Liverpool playmaker Adam Lallana has insisted that his side will not take Basel lightly during this evening's Champions League group encounter in Switzerland.
The hosts were beaten 5-1 by Real Madrid in the Bernabeu on matchday one, but from their 10 previous home encounters against English clubs, they have avoided defeat six times.
Taking that statistic into consideration, Lallana has claimed that there is no danger of the Reds underestimating their opponents.
"You can't underestimate any team. You have to take them all on merit. We know Real Madrid have some exceptional players and I heard in that game Basel had a few chances as well, so it could have been different," he told the club's official website.
"We feel that if we concentrate on ourselves and put in a good performance, keep progressing and getting better, like we feel we have been doing, then we can get the right result.
"Basel had a good run in the competition last year and did well against English opposition, so it's going to be a tough night for us."
Liverpool have met Basel on two previous occasions, both of which ended in draws.
