Basel coach Paulo Sousa has claimed that Liverpool are good enough to win the Champions League.
The Reds visit the Swiss side on Wednesday evening in their first away game in Europe's premier competition for five years.
Speaking to reporters ahead of the game, the Portuguese boss believes that Brendan Rodgers's side are well equipped to win the competition, after some heavy investment in the summer.
He said: "Liverpool can win this game and this competition. We don't have that money to spend.
"I know it will be difficult to compete against a team with a manager like Rodgers. He is in the third year of integrating his philosophy and he has spent something like £170m on top players."
Liverpool beat Ludogorets 2-1 in their first Group B game earlier this month.
