Juventus edged closer to a place in the Champions League knockout stages by claiming a 2-0 win against Malmo.

Fernando Llorente gave the Bianconeri the lead with a calm finish after rounding the keeper.

They sealed the points late on when Carlos Tevez was fed through by Paul Pogba and slotted the ball into the corner.

Was the result fair?

The best team undoubtedly came out on top, but Juventus really should have won by a more comfortable margin. They had a number of chances to further extend their lead and the points were only made safe in the final minutes of the game. Malmo found it hard to compete with their illustrious opponents, but did offer a few moments of danger in the first half. However, as soon as the Italians went ahead, they never really looked like mustering a comeback.

Malmo's performance

Malmo were always going to be in for a tough night, but they started the game quite brightly and had a rapturous home crowd supporting them. Isaac Kiese Thelin looked especially lively in the first half and was not afraid to try his luck on goal. They would have been delighted to have gone in level at half time, but Juventus stepped it up a gear after the break and it became much harder for them to compete.

Manager Age Hareide will have been disappointed at the way in which his side were sliced open for the first goal, but at this level any defensive lapses will be punished by Europe's best strikers. The Swedes can now no longer make it through to the knockout stages, but a victory in their last match against Olympiacos will see them compete in the Europa League in the New Year.

Juventus's performance

Juventus have badly struggled away from home in the Champions League and had not won in their last six matches. At times they made it hard for themselves with a number of missed chances, but they will see this victory as a potential turning point. For a team that has been so good domestically, it was important that they really stamped their authority on a European match.

From the start they were firmly in control and tested Robin Olsen in the Malmo goal time and time again. Claudio Marchisio was thwarted by the keeper on a number of occasions, before Llorente kept his cool to score the opening goal. Tevez eventually slotted home a second in the final moments and it put the seal on a very good night's work for Juventus, which means that they can still top the group if they beat Atletico Madrid in two weeks.

Sports Mole's man of the match

Paul Pogba: There were plenty of good displays from the away side, but Pogba just about comes out on top. The Frenchman is becoming one of Europe's best midfielders and showed his class with a dominant performance. He was always calm under pressure, used the ball smartly and set up Tevez's goal with a well-weighted pass.

Biggest gaffe

Alvaro Morata will look back on the match and wonder how he did not find the net. He was picked out by Tevez inside the six-yard box, but with an open goal he blasted the ball onto the bar. His side scored a second just a minute late to spare his blushes, but it was still a bad miss from a player of his quality.

Referee's performance

It took until the last five minutes of the match for Pedro Proenca to hand out a booking, but Juventus' second goal sparked a flurry of cards. He sent off Erik Johansson for dissent, while Olsen and Rosenberg were shown yellow cards for their complaints. Otherwise, it was a relatively easy night for the official, who allowed the game to flow as much as he could.

Malmo: The Swedes will travel to Greece to play Olympiacos in their final group match on December 9.

Juventus: Massimo Allegri's side will host city rivals Torino on Sunday.
