Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Dundee United finish all square

Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Dundee United play out a 1-1 draw in the Scottish Premiership.

Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Dundee United have played out a 1-1 draw in the Scottish Premiership.

The home side took the lead after just five minutes through Billy McKay.

Danny Williams's cross found Gary Warren, who headed down towards McKay to volley home his 18th goal of the season.

United immediately pushed forward in search of an equaliser and found one after just nine minutes through Keith Watson, who headed home a corner.

Brian Graham should have given the away side the lead on 24 minutes, but his shoe from inside the six-yard box smashed off the post.

McKay almost grabbed his second of the game on 39 minutes, but his header was kept out well by the goalkeeper.

Inverness dominated the early stages of the second half and came close to regaining the lead through McKay once again, although his effort was denied by the goalkeeper.

Inverness were awarded a penalty on 62 minutes after Graeme Shinnie was brought down inside the area. Nick Ross stepped up to take the spot kick, but it was saved, keeping the score level at 1-1.

Chris Erskine came close with a side-footed strike from eight yards for United on 75 minutes, but his shot bounced clear of the post.
