Celtic edge past Inverness Caledonian Thistle

Celtic beat Inverness Caledonian Thistle 1-0 to maintain their unbeaten run in the Scottish Premiership.

Celtic have beaten Inverness Caledonian Thistle 1-0 to extend their lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership to 14 points.

Kris Commons gave the visitors an early lead when he exchanged passes with Georgios Samaras, before lashing the ball through the legs of the keeper.

Billy McKay had a good chance to level for the home side, but could not make firm contact with a header and the keeper made the save.

They came close again at the end of the half, as Graeme Shinnie cut inside and hit a powerful effort that was beaten away by the goalkeeper.

After the break, Celtic nearly doubled their lead, as Commons saw his long-range effort hit the top of the bar.

Commons was proving to be his side's main threat and saw another chance go to waste when his low effort was pushed wide.

The home side came close with 10 minutes left to play, as Fraser Forster tipped Gary Warren's header over the bar following a corner.

Inverness pushed hard for a goal, but Celtic held on to record their seventh league win in a row.
