Chelsea director: 'Tottenham Hotspur have produced just one player'

Chelsea chief Michael Emenalo blasts rivals Tottenham Hotspur by claiming that he does not understand all the "hoopla" surrounding the club.

Chelsea director Michael Emenalo has insisted that he does not understand the fuss surrounding Tottenham Hotspur's inclusion of youngsters this season, claiming they have produced just one player of their own.

Spurs have been praised for the way in which they have mounted a real claim for the Premier League title this term, using a blend of experienced heads and a raft of more youthful talents.

However, Emenalo has laid into Chelsea's London rivals by stating that Harry Kane is their only true product, having come through the club's youth ranks and into the first team.

"In reality it is just the one key player - Harry Kane. Dele Alli they bought, Eric Dier they bought; Tom Carroll is a fringe player," he is quoted as saying by The Sun. "So with all the hoopla about Tottenham, it's just the one player."

Speaking of his own side's potential breakthrough stars of the future, Emenalo added: "Andreas Christensen will be a superb player. I see on a regular basis that Jake Clarke-Salter and Fikayo Tomori are going to be outstanding players.

"If they continue the way that they are, they will make it because they have great talent, there's no doubt about that. There is a coordinated effort from everybody to want to make this happen. Not just because it feels good, and it is nice to have a backbone the fans can relate to and support."

Tottenham hold a 24-point lead over the fallen Premier League champions, with just four games of the season left to play.
