Bayern Munich maintain their perfect start to the season with a 2-0 away win against Schalke in the Bundesliga.

Bayern Munich have maintained their 100% start to the season with a 2-0 victory over Schalke in Gelsenkirchen.

The home side started the game the brighter of the two sides, with Julian Draxler and Jefferson Farfan going close in the opening six minutes.

However, Bayern soon began to assert themselves at the Veltins-Arena, as Mario Mandzukic forced Lars Unnerstall into making a good save.

Mandzukic had another good chance later in the first half for the Bavarian giants, with Thomas Muller and Arjen Robben too proving to be a handful for the Schalke defenders.

Ten minutes into the restart Jupp Heynckes broke the deadlock when Toni Kroos shot home from inside the Schalke penalty box after being released by Muller.

Kyriakos Papadopoulos could have equalised just moments later for the Royal Blues, but his header from close range went over the crossbar.

Bayern made Schalke pay for that miss as they doubled their advantage in the 58th minute when Muller slotted home from an acute angle on the right.

Muller and Kroos came close to scoring Bayern's third goal of the afternoon during the remainder of the second half, but they had to settle for a 2-0 victory.
