Bayern Munich travel to FC Basel without a number of squad members. Sports Mole previews the German club's chances of progressing through to the next round of the Champions League.

Bayern Munich will make the short trip from Germany to Switzerland without a number of key squad members.

Arjen Robben, Breno, Daniel van Buyten, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Diego Contento have all been ruled out of the opening leg with injuries.

However, the club have received a boost before the match with the news that coach Louis van Gaal has agreed a new contract with the Bavarians.

Basel have injury concerns over Philipp Degen and Scott Chipperfield, both of whom are struggling with thigh complaints.

The Swiss club's Xherdan Shaqiri will come up against his future employers tomorrow night, having agreed to join Bayern in the summer.

The two sides last met in 2010, with Bayern coming out on top 2-1.
